Driven by a passion for patient education, I seek to transform complex medical data into accessible knowledge that empowers patients to make informed healthcare decisions. My professional journey has spanned from research in DNA repair diseases at Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Hepatitis C cellular translation mechanisms at UCLA, to roles in medical advertising, education, and clinical publication management for FDA submissions and phase III oncology research at Sanofi-Aventis. For over ten years, I have been an independent medical writer and founded a strategic medical communications company dedicated to patient education on orthopedic conditions and surgeries.
My personal journey with a hereditary cancer risk fifteen years ago propelled me into patient advocacy, leading community initiatives and volunteering as a research advocate with FORCE (Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered). In addition to my masters studies, I have recently expanded my communications qualifications with a Certified Medical Publication Manager (CMPP) certification and a Certificate in Data Visualization from Parsons School of Design. These new credentials have provided me with advanced tools to present data in an engaging and precise manner. Whether it’s crafting Plain Language Summaries, creating Mechanism of Action animations, or designing interactive visualizations for clinical data, my passion lies in demystifying complex medical and scientific information for healthcare professionals and laypersons alike, striving for clarity and understanding in the realm of clinical data.
